The GP Out of Hours Service provides urgent health care and advice during nights, evenings, weekends and bank holidays when General Practioners surgeries are closed. This vital service provides advice, clinical assessment and treatment to patients of all age ranges.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the service and the team by employing an enthusiastic, proactive nurse who has experience of working in this environment.

The applicant will require the knowledge, skills and previous experience to have the ability to clinically assess and prioritise all patients who access the service, providing self-care advice were appropriate to meet patients’ needs or alternatively arrange a face to face consultation with the GP or Nurse Practitioner at one of the Trust sites or at home if required.

The applicant will require NMC Nurse Registration with previous significant experience within a primary care, community and emergency care setting, with evidence of continuing professional development, and experience with triage and telephone triage.

There are opportunities for training within the role and we actively encourage and support ongoing professional development through formal study methods.

The service is operational from 18:30 until 08:00 Monday to Thursday, and from 18:30 Friday until 08:00 Monday inclusive of bank holidays.
