Choose Well - Choose WWL
Are you ready for a break from daily commute on the train or motorway? Located within easy reach of Manchester and Liverpool, Wigan is ideally placed in the heart of the north west to offer a less hectic journey to work, whilst still giving the option of lots of places to visit outside of work, offering great work life balance.
Rainbow Ward is seeking proactive, enthusiastic band 5 nurses to join the WWL family on our friendly Children’s Ward. The ward has benefited from recent investment to create a sensory zone, and a dedicated Teen Zone area, providing age appropriate spaces for our patients, day to day.
Rainbow ward is a 34 bedded integrated paediatric unit, including a 2 bedded HDU, caring for children aged 0 – 16 years with medical and surgical needs, giving staff who work on the ward a diverse range of patients to work with – no two days are ever the same!
In exchange for your hard work and dedication we offer a comprehensive preceptorship package, including medicines management training (including intravenous medications) and two mandatory paediatric study days in a rolling twelve month period. Further development opportunities exist with the chance to mentor students from UCLAN and Edgehill as they pursue their own career as a student nurse, or nurse associate.
Each member of band 5 nurses is encouraged to pursue an area of specialist interest such as diabetes, or asthma. Successful candidates will be encouraged to attend the relevant study days according to their areas of specialist interest.
Nurses will also have the opportunity to complete APLS training, subject to having completed two years post qualification training.
The role will require you to work across all areas in the Trust which includes those that are designated as positive, asymptomatic and negative COVID wards.
Candidates are required to provide original certificates for qualifications marked as essential to the interview panel.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
